If I Could Invite My Characters Out . . . By Meredith Schorr, Author of “Blogger Girl”

If I could invite my characters out for a night on the town, the festivities would include food, spirits, and music. Because the main characters in three out of my four novels are New Yorkers with strong opinions, there would likely be much discussion about where to go for dinner. However, we all share an appreciation for sushi and would eventually decide on a Japanese restaurant with good ratings on Yelp that is BYOB so we could bring our own bottle(s) of Prosecco to share. After dinner and a nice buzz, we’d head to a Karaoke bar. Three out of four are veterans at Karaoke and the fourth? Well, give her an extra shot and she’s usually up for anything. (Not always a good thing, trust me.)

How the night would end:

Maggie from How Do You Know? would put a drunk Jane from A State of Jane in a cab and then go home and watch back-to-back episodes of Criminal Minds on the Ion Channel and ponder the wisdom of texting her ex.
Kim from Blogger Girl would call her boyfriend Nicholas for a late-night booty call.
Stephanie from Just Friends with Benefits would convince me to have one more drink (one = three) before crashing on my couch since she lives in D.C. She would no doubt keep me up all night with stories of her friends from college without realizing there is nothing she can tell me that I didn’t make up.

Blurb for Blogger Girl:

What happens when your high school nemesis becomes the shining star in a universe you pretty much saved? Book blogger Kimberly Long is about to find out.

A chick-lit enthusiast since the first time she read Bridget Jones’s Diary, Kim, with her blog, “Pastel is the New Black,” has worked tirelessly by night to keep the genre alive, and help squash the claim that “chick lit is dead” once and for all. Not bad for a woman who by day ekes out a meager living as a pretty, and pretty-much-nameless, legal secretary in a Manhattan law firm. While Kim’s day job holds no passion for her, the handsome (and shaving challenged) associate down the hall is another story. Yet another story is that Hannah Marshak, one of her most hated high school classmates, has now popped onto the chick-lit scene with a hot new book that’s turning heads–and pages–across the land. And it’s also popped into Kim’s inbox–for review. With their ten-year high school reunion drawing near, Kim’s coming close to combustion over all the hype Hannah’s book is receiving. And as everyone around her seems to be moving on and up, she begins to question whether being a “blogger girl” makes the grade in her off-line life.

and contemporary women’s fiction. She secures much inspiration from her day
job as a hard-working trademark paralegal and her still single (but looking) status.
