Spring Reset

I live in New York and for any of you who also live in the Big Apple state or have tracked the weather in recent months for the Northeast, you know that we’ve had quite the winter here. Brutally cold and very, very snowy. At one point, I thought Elsa the Snow Queen from “Frozen” had moved into a studio apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Don’t get me wrong, I love to build a snowman, but it was getting a bit ridiculous, this perpetual winter of mine. It was so bad that I even longed for the hot, sticky and humid summer nights that I swore I would never look forward to (please don’t hold me to this statement in July though. As much as I say I won’t, I’ll soon be complaining about the stifling heat and the lack of air conditioning on the subway. I’ll probably even dare to say how much I miss the cold weather. If I do, you have my permission to knock some sense to me!)

Now that the harsh weather is (hopefully) behind me, I feel a renewal of sorts. Spring always has a way of doing that to me. It’s a chance for a fresh start, new beginnings. It’s nice to be able to finally see hints of green grass on the ground and colors all around me-blue skies, crisp white clouds, rainbow colored flowers. The windows are finally opened and the fragrant scent of fresh air fills each room of my house. I start looking forward to picnics in the park and bike rides by the beach. I look forward to barbecues with family and evenings spent sipping cocktails with good friends in an outdoor cafe.

And just like a bear coming out of hibernation, I’m feeling another kind of awakening too as a writer. I’ve just finished my fourth book (much faster than anticipated probably because I’ve been cooped up inside for all those chilly months) and while it’s still in the editorial stages, I can’t wait to release it to my readers in late May. Just like Spring, I am hopeful it will provide renewed enjoyment for those of you who, like me, are suckers for romantic comedies.

And while I’m in that seasonal frame of mind, I’ve also decided to clean house with my other books too! Just like I’ve started spring cleaning my home, washing the windows and airing out the dust in each room, I am premiering new book covers too! It’s all legs, pastel colored and a fresh look for all of my books. It’s in honor of one of my favorite seasons of the year. I hope you like them.

And as for winter, dear friend. I think I need time to miss you. I’ll see you in December.
